Season For
Non-violence
A Season for Nonviolence is an international 64 day educational, media,
and grassroots campaign to promote the principle and practice of nonviolence as
an effective way to change, heal and empower our lives and our communities. This
campaign was established to honor the memorial anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi
and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the 20th century’s greatest
champions of nonviolence.

Decade
for a Culture of Peace and Non-violence for the Children of the
World
ON
NOVEMBER 10, 1998, the United Nations General Assembly responded to
an appeal from every living Nobel Peace Laureate by proclaiming the
year 2000 to be "The Year for the Culture of Peace" and
the years 2001-2010 to be the "International Decade for a
Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the
World".
